Similar failed attemtps were reported in Abbottabad, Nowshera and Jamrud. However, Pakistan’s anti-drone systems intercepted and shot down all the drones before they could hit their targets, officials said.

No casualties or damage were reported in any of the incidents, according to security sources.

Officials blamed the attempted attacks on what they described as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” a term the Pakistani state uses for Pakistani Taliban militants. They said the incidents once again exposed what they called a nexus between the Afghan Taliban regime and militant violence inside Pakistan.
