Pakistan Names Initial Squad for T20 World Cup 2026

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has submitted its preliminary squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to the International Cricket Council, sources told the media on Saturday.

According to officials, the PCB has forwarded a provisional 15-member squad along with the names of reserve players. The board retains the right to make changes to the squad without ICC approval until Jan. 31. Any alterations after that date will require clearance from the ICC’s Technical Committee.

Sources said the PCB plans to formally announce both its T20 World Cup squad and the lineup for the upcoming T20 series against Australia after the conclusion of Pakistan’s series against Sri Lanka. The board is keen to assess the performances of one or two players during the Sri Lanka series before finalising the squad.

The preliminary list reportedly includes players currently touring Sri Lanka, as well as senior stars Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf.
