ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has shot down two more Indian fighter jets in response to Indian air strikes, taking the total number of Indian fighter jets to five, confirmed Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.

Speaking to Geo News, Khawaja Asif said Pakistan had gained the upper hand in its retaliatory action, while responding to the Indian forces’ strikes with strength and precision.

He stressed that the Pakistani armed forces acted decisively to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and downed five Indian fighter jets.

Security officials said that Pakistani armed forces are giving a “befitting reply” to the Indian failed operation Sindoor that targeted civilians and mosques in Pakistan. The security sources asserted that the country’s defence is fully active and vigilant. A child was killed and several others, including girls, were injured in the Indian missile strikes.

International media, including Sky News and Reuters, reported that Pakistan shot down India’s most advanced Rafale jet in a swift response.

National Security Committee gives ‘free hand’ to armed forces to respond to Indian attacks

Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC), which convened for an urgent meeting in Islamabad after strikes by India on Wednesday, has given a free hand to the armed forces to respond to Indian airstrikes.

“The NSC calls upon the international community to recognize the gravity of India’s unprovoked illegal actions and to hold it accountable for its blatant violations of international norms and laws,” said a statement released by the prime minister’s office.  The National Security Committee (NSC) meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, says that “the NSC deliberated upon the grave developments arising out of India’s unprovoked, cowardly and unlawful act of war.

Pakistan destroys another Indian checkpost in retaliatory firing

Pakistan Army destroyed the Indian Jabri post opposite Chirikot. The entire post was engulfed in flames, forcing Indian soldiers to flee. Footage shows smoke rising after the post’s destruction. Destruction of HQ 93 Brigade in Poonch sector is also visible in the footage shared on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan shoots down another Indian drone near LoC

Pakistan has shot down another Indian drone in the Shakargarh sector at the Line of Control on Wednesday.

India was attempting to infiltrate, but the Pakistan Rangers foiled their attempt and downed the drone.

The Pakistan Army is actively responding to every act of aggression by the enemy.

India shuts Kartarpur Corridor for Sikh pilgrims

The Indian government has temporarily closed the Kartarpur Corridor to Sikh pilgrims. Officials cite security concerns amid rising India-Pakistan tensions.

This move disappoints thousands of Sikh devotees. Many regularly visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan, a sacred site in Sikhism.

Authorities confirmed the closure with immediate effect. The corridor will remain shut until further notice. They gave no timeline for reopening.

India and Pakistan opened the corridor in 2019. It allowed visa-free access for Indian pilgrims to visit the historic gurdwara.

Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, spent his final years at the Kartarpur shrine. The corridor connects Dera Baba Nanak in India to Kartarpur in Pakistan. It symbolized a rare moment of cooperation between the two countries.

Sikh groups and religious leaders expressed deep disappointment. They called the closure a setback for Sikh pilgrims.

Chinese envoy meets Deputy PM Ishaq Dar

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar early this morning.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at its X official account read that DPM/FM briefed the Chinese Ambassador on the serious situation following India’s unprovoked violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and the tragic loss of innocent lives. He underscored Pakistan’s firm resolve to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.

The two sides exchanged views on regional security developments and agreed to maintain close coordination and communication across all relevant areas.

The Minister for Interior of Italy to Pakistan Interior Matteo Paintedosi visited Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs and met with  Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

Pakistan closes Lahore’s airspace for commercial flights again

According to reports, Pakistan has closed its airspace in Lahore again after a short resumption for commercial flights amid tensions with India.

In this regard, the Pakistan Airports Authority has issued a new NOTAM (Notice to Airmen). According to the NOTAM, routes J139, J165, and J186 in Lahore’s airspace are closed for flight operations. These routes have been shut down for 24 hours due to operational reasons.

A few hours ago, it was reported that flight operations were returning to normal.

Flight operations at Islamabad Airport remain active.

FO summons Indian Charge d’Affaires over ceasefire violations

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday summoned the Indian Charge to lodge a strong protest over unprovoked ceasefire violations that reportedly resulted in civilian casualties on the Pakistani side in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The Indian envoy was summoned following what it described as “indiscriminate and unprovoked” attacks by Indian forces across the Line of Control (LoC), which left several civilians, including women and children, dead or wounded, read the statement.

“The Indian Charge d’Affaires was conveyed Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the latest ceasefire violations, which are a clear violation of international law and existing bilateral agreements,” said FO spokesperson.

The attacks targeted civilian populations in border areas of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, it added.

Pakistan informs the UNSC about Indian aggression

On instructions of the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations has informed the UN Security Council about the blatant aggression by India and the threat it poses to the regional security and international peace.

UNSC has been informed that Pakistan reserves the right to respond appropriately to this aggression at a time and place of its choosing, in accordance with its right to self-defence as enshrined in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.

Civilian death toll from Indian airstrikes rises to 26: DG ISPR

Addressing a press conference, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed that all Pakistan Air Force jets are safe after engaging Indian jets. In swift retaliation to the Indian attacks, Pakistan downed three Indian Air Force (IAF) French-made Rafales jets, one Su-30MKI and one MIG-29 Fulcrum.

Lt Gen Chaudhry said the death toll of the civilians jumped to 26, which includes 13 women. 46 others were injured in Indian airstrikes.

DG ISPR elaborated that India launched 24 attacks on six sites in Punjab and Azad Kashmir, and all targets hit were civilian in nature, with most being mosques. The Indian munitions also caused damage to the surrounding residential structures.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that India targeted civilians and religious sites under the cover of darkness, which is a clear violation of international laws. An attack on Bilal Mosque in Muzaffarabad resulted in the martyrdom of three people, while two children lost their lives in Kotli. In Ahmedpur East, 13 civilians were martyred, while three were killed and one injured in Muridke.

According to the spokesperson, India also targeted the structure of the Noseri Dam, part of the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project, which he termed a dangerous act. He made it clear that India’s misunderstanding would be corrected soon and that Pakistan would never compromise on its sovereignty.

The DG ISPR said that Pakistan reserves the right to respond to every act of aggression by the enemy and that the entire nation stands united with its armed forces.

Pakistan restores airspace for Lahore, Karachi

The Pakistan Airports Authority has reopened the airspace for Lahore and Karachi, as per a new NOTAM (Notice to Airmen).

The authority said it suspended the airspace for 8 hours due to operational restrictions.

Now, all affected air routes are open for flight operations after the overnight suspension ended.

The NOTAM advised passengers to stay in contact with their airlines due to the regional situation.

It also said that airlines will make the final decisions on flight schedules and routes.

China has expressed deep concern over rising tensions between Pakistan and India. On Wednesday, it called for calm and restraint. It urged both countries to prioritise peace and avoid steps that could worsen the situation.

In an official statement, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the recent Indian aggression against Pakistan “regrettable.” It repeated China’s firm support for regional stability.

“We are seriously concerned about the evolving situation in South Asia,” said a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry. “We urge both Pakistan and India to exercise maximum restraint and avoid actions that may escalate the conflict.”

The spokesperson also stressed the need for dialogue and diplomacy. “Peace must be given a chance first,” they added.

This statement came as military activity increased along the Line of Control. Pakistan claimed it shot down several Indian jets, including Rafale and Sukhoi aircraft. It called the move a “timely and proportionate response” to Indian airspace violations.

 

Eight martyred, 35 injured in Indian airstrikes: DG ISPR

DG ISPR, addressing an emergency press conference in Wednesday’s wee hours, said that eight Pakistanis embraced martyrdom while 35 others sustained injuries in Indian strikes.

He said that two civilians are missing, as per initial information.

He further said that India launched 24 attacks on six sites in Pakistan.

US Secretary of State contacts Pakistan’s National Security Advisor

The United States Secretary of State telephoned Pakistan’s National Security Advisor, Lieutenant General Mohammad Asim Malik, and discussed post Indian missile attacks on Pakistan. Lieutenant General Mohammad Asim Malik is also the head of the Pakistan intelligence agency ISI. During their conversation, they discussed regional stability and the rising tensions between the two South Asian neighbours, sources added.

UN expresses deep concern over Indian missile strikes on Pakistan

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern on Tuesday over India’s missile attacks on Pakistan.

His spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, issued a statement. He said Guterres is “very concerned” about Indian military operations across the Line of Control and the international border.

The Secretary-General urged both countries to show maximum military restraint.

“The world cannot afford a military confrontation between India and Pakistan,” Dujarric added.

Guterres’ statement came shortly after India launched missile strikes under “Operation Sindoor.” The strikes targeted locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have surged after last month’s attack in Pahalgam, a tourist resort in Indian-administered Kashmir. The attack killed 26 people.

India blamed Pakistan and claimed the attack had cross-border links. Pakistan denied this and offered a neutral investigation with third-party oversight.

Both nations have responded with diplomatic actions. They canceled visas and recalled some diplomatic staff.

India also suspended its role in the Indus Waters Treaty, a key 1960 water-sharing agreement.

Several countries, including the US, have reached out to leaders in both countries to help reduce tensions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee meeting today at 10 am.

Top civil and military leaders will hold high-level consultations on the security situation.

The government is expected to make major national security decisions today.

Emergency imposed across Punjab, Islamabad hospitals

The Punjab government has imposed a state of emergency across the province and cancelled leaves of all staff members of the hospitals in the backdrop of India’s airstrikes at six places at midnight. The federal government has also declared a state of emergency at PIMS and other hospitals in the federal capital.

All employees of the emergency services have been asked to remain alert on their respective duties, according to sources.

In a statement, President Zardari said that Pakistan’s armed forces are fully prepared and will give a befitting reply to Indian aggression and will take all possible steps to defend itself.

He said that India’s cowardly actions expose the true face of a fascist regime, which is ready to put regional peace at stake to advance its political agenda.

President further said that the entire Pakistani nation is united behind its brave armed forces and will not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the security of the country.

President Asif Ali Zardari appealed to the international community to condemn India’s aggression and raise its voice in favor of Pakistan’s sovereignty.

In an unprovoked and blatant act of war, the Indian Air Force, while remaining within Indian airspace, has violated Pakistan’s sovereignty using standoff weapons, targeting the civilian population across the international border in Muridke and Bahawalpur, and across the Line of Control in Kotli and Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. All educational institutions in Punjab to remain closed today

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that all educational institutions across the province will remain closed on Wednesday, in the wake of the situation arising after Indian missile strikes inside Pakistani territory, which left innocent civilians dead.

The Punjab CM condemned Indian aggression and expressed condolences over the loss of innocent lives in India’s strikes.

After the cowardly Indian attack, Pakistani authorities suspended flight operations at airports across the country for the next 48 hours.

Clouds of war have been hovering over Pakistan and India since the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that India blamed on Pakistan.

Pakistan Army vows retaliation at time of its choosing

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has confirmed the missile strikes by India, stating that missiles were fired at Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and Bahawalpur.

According to the DG ISPR, the situation is being assessed and India’s disgraceful attack will be met with a full and forceful response.

He further revealed that India targeted a mosque—Masjid Subhan Allah—in Masjid Sobhanullah in Ahmed Pur Bahawalpur, where civilians were present during the cowardly strike.

All planes of the Pakistan Air Force are airborne. All strikes were made by India from its own airspace. Pakistan will respond to it at a time and place of its own choosing. It will not go unanswered, added the ISPR statement.

Following the explosions in Bahawalpur, heavy contingents of security forces rushed to the site to assess the situation. Media reports indicate that Muzaffarabad is experiencing a complete blackout.

Security sources report that the cowardly attack resulted in the martyrdom of one innocent child, with a woman and a man seriously injured.

According to these sources, India deliberately targeted innocent Pakistani civilians under the cover of darkness, and Pakistan has now launched retaliatory operations.

Airspace Closed

In response to India’s aggression, Pakistan has shut down its airspace, cancelling all flights.

Aviation sources confirm that the airspace will remain closed for the next 48 hours.

It is worth noting that tensions between Pakistan and India had been escalating since the false flag operation in Pahalgam on April 22. India had threatened action against Pakistan, while Pakistan had clearly warned that any misadventure would be met with a strong and decisive response.

Earlier today, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that conflict with India has become inevitable, and any aggression will be dealt with firmly.
