WEB DESK: : In a rare acknowledgment, a prominent Indian publication has conceded that Pakistan’s proactive diplomacy has left Indian foreign policy “floored,” dealing a significant blow to the Narendra Modi government’s stated objective of isolating its neighbor.
The Indian magazine The Wire reported that Pakistan has defeated the Modi administration on every front, with Washington now recognizing Islamabad’s centrality in the Middle East instead of New Delhi’s.
According to the report, Pakistan has emerged as the most vital mediator between the United States and Iran, a role that underscores the failure of India’s strategy to diplomatically sideline Pakistan. The Wire noted that the Modi government’s lofty claims stand exposed in the face of Pakistan’s practical and effective diplomacy.
The publication further highlighted that the United States has placed its trust in Pakistan’s leadership while overlooking New Delhi. It stated that the world views Modi as excessively subservient to Israel and the US, whereas Pakistan enjoys the confidence of both Washington and Tehran.
Criticizing India’s foreign policy approach, The Wire observed that India’s perceived subordination to the US has eroded its strategic autonomy and regional influence. In contrast, Pakistan has maintained a balance in diplomacy while retaining the trust of both parties in the West Asian standoff.
The Indian outlet added that US policymakers now regard India merely as a weapons buyer rather than a key strategic partner, whereas Pakistan is setting the agenda for regional stability. It also pointed out that a diplomatic bloc comprising Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey has effectively pushed India out of West Asian leadership circles.
The report warned that India’s billions of dollars in investments in the Chabahar port project are now at risk, and Pakistan’s successful diplomacy has won the field.
In a pointed critique of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government’s policy, The Wire remarked that the country which Modi once dismissed as insignificant has now emerged as a guarantor of global peace, while the Prime Minister’s failed strategy has left India increasingly isolated.
