ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday formally endorsed the recent diplomatic initiatives by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates aimed at ending the protracted civil war in Yemen, expressing hope for a lasting political settlement.

In an official statement, the Foreign Office (FO) stated that Islamabad is “closely monitoring the evolving situation in Yemen” and supports efforts to bring stability to the region. The FO extended appreciation for the peacemaking roles of both Gulf nations.

The statement underscored Pakistan’s principled stance on the Yemeni conflict, emphasizing “the need to maintain the unity and territorial integrity of Yemen.” It expressed hope that all local factions “will refrain from any unilateral steps that could further aggravate the situation.”

Crucially, Pakistan urged all Yemeni parties to engage constructively. “We urge all Yemeni parties to engage in constructive dialogue in good faith for a comprehensive, negotiated and political solution based on agreed parameters,” the FO spokesperson said.

The Foreign Office conveyed optimism that the current diplomatic momentum would translate into tangible progress. “Pakistan is hopeful that ongoing diplomatic efforts will result in concrete steps to establish lasting peace in the country and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people,” the statement concluded. This public endorsement aligns Pakistan with key regional allies in seeking a political resolution to a conflict that has caused a severe humanitarian crisis.

Meanwhile the federal government of Pakistan has imposed a ban on UK-based YouTuber Adil Farooq Raja, who has been living in self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom, and has included his name in the Fourth Schedule under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The decision is part of a broader move by the authorities to tighten action against individuals accused of involvement in activities deemed harmful to national interests. In this regard, the government has taken what it described as a major step to restrict the activities of Adil Farooq Raja, alleging his involvement in anti-state actions. In this sense, the federal cabinet approved the ban on Adil Raja, after which the interior department issued the required notification to enforce the decision.
