Pakistan Excise and Navy stop big smuggling try, make record drug bust

GADANI: The Excise and Anti-Narcotics Department, in collaboration with the Pakistan Navy and the Maritime Security Agency, successfully foiled a major smuggling bid along the Gadani coastline, it was the mega narcotics operation in Balochistan’s history.

The smuggling operation was orchestrated by a well-organized international network that had been using both maritime and land routes to transport illicit liquor into Pakistan.

The smugglers attempted to exploit the vast and often unmonitored stretches of the Balochistan coast to offload the consignment, but the coordinated efforts of the three agencies thwarted their plan.

Director General of the Excise and Anti-Narcotics Department lauded the quick and effective action of all agencies involved and focused on the department’s ongoing commitment to combatting narcotics and smuggling activities across the province.

He further noted that operations are also actively being carried out against illegal poppy cultivation in multiple districts of Balochistan.

Furthermore, the latest operation defines a crucial achievement in Pakistan’s anti-smuggling efforts and underlines the strategic importance of joint inter-agency coordination, particularly along vulnerable coastal regions.
