Two Commanders Among Four Killed as Pakistan Destroys Taliban Position in Dur Baba

PESHAWAR: Pakistani forces shelled an Afghan Taliban position across the border in Afghanistan’s Dur Baba area, killing four people, security sources said.

The artillery fire originated from the Tirah Valley in Pakistan’s Khyber district. Officials said the strike targeted a Taliban centre and an Afghan border post in Dor Baba.

Security sources identified two of the dead as senior Taliban commanders, Bismillah and Rustam. They said the other two were Taliban volunteers.

Officials said the shelling destroyed the targeted Afghan post. They described the action as a strike against specific targets.

The incident heightened tensions along the border. Authorities placed security forces in nearby areas on high alert.

The latest strike comes amid ongoing hostilities between the two sides. Pakistani officials say that under Operation Ghazab Lil-Haq, their forces have killed 331 Taliban fighters and wounded more than 500. They also claim to have destroyed 104 Taliban check posts and 163 armed vehicles and tanks.

The Taliban administration has not immediately commented on the latest strike.
