Pakistan decides to nominate US President Trump for Nobel Peace Prize 2026

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has decided to formally nominate President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

According to the government statement, this decision has been taken in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and key leadership during the recent Pak-India tension. the international community witnessed the Indian aggression, which was a serious violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This aggression resulted in the loss of many innocent lives, including women, children and the elderly. Pakistan, exercising its right to self-defense, took a limited, concrete and precise military action under “Operation Banyan Marsus”, the aim of which was only to respond to the aggression and ensure its defense while avoiding further escalation.

At this critical juncture, President Trump, with extraordinary strategy and foresight, engaged in intensive diplomatic engagements with Islamabad and New Delhi, which resulted in a ceasefire and averted a potential major war. If this war had broken out, its consequences could have been devastating not only for South Asia but for the entire world.

President Trump’s leadership in the 2025 Pakistan-India tension has made clear his pragmatic diplomatic role and efforts to maintain peace. Pakistan hopes that these efforts of President Trump will be helpful in promoting peace and stability not only in South Asia but also in the Middle East, where urgent diplomatic measures are needed in view of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the escalating tensions with Iran.
