Pakistan Army prioritises indigenous, effective defence technology: DG ISPR

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s military development strategy prioritises effective platforms and indigenous technology, the Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) told Bloomberg in an interview.

The Pakistan Army spokesperson said the army aims to strengthen its defence capabilities through efficient and self-reliant systems. “Our strategy has always focused on adopting effective, reliable platforms and developing homegrown Pakistani technology,” he said.

The spokesperson emphasised that Pakistan remains open to acquiring technology from all sources — whether domestic, Eastern, or Western — but does not engage in an arms race with India. “Pakistan is ready to explore every kind of technology, but our objective is capability, not competition,” he added.

Rejecting Indian claims related to the recent Marka-e-Haq, the DG ISPR said India failed to shoot down any Pakistani aircraft during the confrontation. He pointed out that “Pakistan has never manipulated or hidden facts,” adding that U.S. President Donald Trump had confirmed the downing of seven Indian aircraft a week earlier.

According to Bloomberg, Pakistan’s Chinese-made J-10C fighter jets shot down multiple Indian Air Force aircraft, including Rafales, during the engagement.

The DG ISPR also praised the performance of Pakistan’s weapon systems, including Chinese platforms currently integrated into the armed forces.

The Bloomberg report noted that Pakistan recently announced plans to induct the Z-10ME attack helicopter into service. The country continues to operate a mix of Chinese and U.S.-made aircraft, including the F-16, as part of its broader strategy to modernise its defence forces.
