MUZZAFARGARH: The Pakistan Army has officially inducted the Chinese-manufactured Z-10ME attack helicopters into its aviation fleet, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced today.
The induction ceremony, held at the Muzaffargarh Field Firing Ranges, was presided over by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir, who later observed a live firepower demonstration by the newly acquired helicopters.
“The induction of this potent system marks a major leap in the modernisation of Army Aviation, reinforcing its integrated battlefield response and capacity to deliver decisive effects against potential adversaries,” the ISPR stated.
The Z-10ME, a modernised variant of the Z-10 attack helicopter developed by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China, is designed for precision strike capabilities. The Z-10ME had earlier made headlines during the Singapore Airshow in February 2024, indicating its first international appearance.
In this sense, trial runs of the Z-10 in Pakistan were reported to be inconclusive, with the helicopters returned to China. However, military analysts, including former Australian defence attaché Brian Cloughley, had anticipated the Pakistan Army would re-evaluate the upgraded Z-10ME variant.
During his visit to the Muzaffargarh Ranges, Field Marshal Munir commended the high morale, professionalism, and combat efficiency of the troops. He lauded the successful display of combined arms tactics, noting it reflected the army’s readiness to maintain a decisive edge in evolving warfare dynamics.
