RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s armed forces reasserted their constant support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), as the nation indicated Youm-e-Istehsal to protest India’s unilateral revocation of the region’s special status on August 5, 2019.
In this sense, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), along with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff, and all ranks of the armed forces, expressed deep solidarity with the “resilient and courageous” people of IIOJK.
The ISPR noted that the ongoing military siege in IIOJK, along with reported human rights violations and demographic changes, constitutes a serious breach of international laws and norms. It termed the situation a matter of “grave concern” for the international community.
The statement further underlined that India’s repressive measures and aggressive rhetoric not only contribute to worsening the humanitarian situation in Kashmir but also threaten regional peace and stability. The military leadership also paid homage to the martyrs of IIOJK and reasserted their enduring support for the Kashmiri people’s struggle.

Moreover. the Youm-e-Istehsal is observed annually in Pakistan to mark the day when the Indian government revoked Article 370 of its constitution, stripping Jammu and Kashmir of its special autonomy.
