Youm-e-Takbeer: Armed Forces Reaffirm Commitment to Defend Homeland

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s senior military leadership marked Kashmir Solidarity Day on Thursday with a strong declaration of support for the people of Indian-administered Kashmir.

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the armed forces voiced their firm commitment to the Kashmiri right to self-determination.

The statement, reflecting the unified stance of Army, Naval, and Air Force chiefs, condemned what it described as “serious human rights violations” in the region. It specifically highlighted concerns over “extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances,” labeling such acts as a “clear violation of international law.”

Field Marshal Asim Munir, alongside the chiefs of the naval and air forces, used the occasion to reiterate that a “just solution to the Kashmir issue, in accordance with relevant UN resolutions, is essential for lasting peace in the region.” The military’s message emphasized that the dispute remains an “unfinished agenda of the partition” and a core issue for Pakistan.

Further appealing to the global community, the ISPR statement urged the international community to “take practical steps to help the Kashmiri people.” It called for accountability for the alleged human rights abuses and stressed the need for a peaceful resolution to the decades-long conflict.

Concluding with a note on national resolve, the statement affirmed that the Pakistani armed forces “are always ready to protect the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” This annual expression of solidarity underscores the deep political and emotional significance of the Kashmir issue within Pakistan’s national security narrative, keeping it at the forefront of its diplomatic engagements with India and the world.
