Harare: Pakistan defeated host Zimbabwe by 8 wickets in their final group match of the Under-19 World Cup.
The Green Shirts comfortably chased down the target of 129 runs, losing only two wickets.
In the match played at Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe, batting first, were bundled out for just 128 runs in the 36th over.
Opener Lablanaga top-scored for Zimbabwe with 59 runs, while eight of their batters failed to reach double figures.
For Pakistan, Ali Raza took three wickets, while Saim, Subhan, and Momin each claimed two wickets.
Pakistan successfully chased the required target in the 27th over, finishing at 129/2.
Young opener Sameer Minhhas once again produced an outstanding batting performance, remaining not out on a brilliant 74.
Ahmed Hussain contributed an unbeaten 24.
With this victory, Pakistan has qualified for the next stage of the World Cup.
Notably, in Sameer Minhhas, Pakistan has found a highly promising emerging batsman for the future.
He has proven effective both in terms of technique and power-hitting. His confidence is particularly impressive.
Minhhas previously played a match-defining knock of 171 runs against India in the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup, playing a major role in Pakistan’s victory.
