Pakistan whitewashed Sri Lanka in the ODI series

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan have white-washed Sri Lanka in the ODI series by winning the final one day by six wickets.

Pakistan, after having won the toss opted to bowl first. One a dry wicket, where runs were hard to come by, Pakistani bowlers bowled really well and restricted Sri Lanka to just 211 runs.

Samarawickrama scored 48 while Kusal Mendis made 34 runs. Mohammad Wasim Junior picked up three wickets.

Harish Rauf and Faisal Akram picked up two wickets each. While chasing the target of 212, Pakistan suffered an early loss when Hasibullah Khan got dismissed without scoring a run.

Fakhar Zaman made another half century and got out on a 45 ball 55 runs knock.

Babar Azam was cleaned up by young Wendersay after scoring a well-made 34 runs.

Salman Ali Agha was trapped leg before on just 6 runs. At one stage, Pakistan were  in a spot of bother at 115/4.

Then Rizwan and Hussain Talat, slowly but gradually kept the score-board ticking. Both added 100 runs and brought Pakistan home with six wickets in hand and 32 balls to spare.

Rizwan made 61 not out on 94 balls while Hussain Talat played a good supporting role by making 42 runs on 57 deliveries.

Sri Lanka’s Geoffary Vandersay picked up three wickets after bowling with some good variation.

Theekshana was the other only wicket taker. Mohammad Wasim Junior won the player of the match award.

A tri-nation T20 series will begin from the Tuesday. Host Pakistan will play Zimbabwe in the opening match.

Pakistan have won 13 out of their 24 ODIs with a winning percentage of 54. India are at number 2 with 48 percent wins.
