Pak rejects misleading statement by Afghan Taliban

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting dismissed as misleading and baseless the recent statement made by the spokesperson of the Afghan Taliban, saying that Afghanistan’s allegations against Pakistan were contrary to the facts.

The ministry said Pakistan “categorically rejects” the Afghan Taliban spokesperson’s “misleading” statements regarding the Istanbul talks.

The statement clarified that the spokesperson had distorted and misrepresented the facts related to the recent discussions between the two sides.

In this regard, Pakistan had urged the Afghan authorities to take decisive action against terrorists operating from Afghan soil and involved in attacks inside Pakistan.

Afghanistan’s claims, the ministry noted that Pakistan had immediately offered cooperation for the transfer and custody of such individuals through proper legal channels.

“The position of Pakistan remains clear, consistent, and well-documented,” the statement focused. It further asserted that Pakistan’s stance on the matter had been repeatedly communicated at various diplomatic and official levels.

Furthermore, the ministry said that “false claims against Pakistan are unacceptable” and do not contribute to regional stability or mutual understanding.

It reasserted that Pakistan has always advocated for peaceful engagement, respect for sovereignty, and regional cooperation based on truth and mutual responsibility.

Moreover, the statement also clarified that the extradition or handover of wanted individuals can only take place through official border entry points and in accordance with established legal procedures.

The ministry confirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working with Afghanistan for regional peace and security but stressed that constructive dialogue must be based on verified facts rather than unfounded allegations.
