Pak exposes cross-border terror threats, calls for global support

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan continues to face sustained security challenges from terrorist groups operating across its borders, some of which receive ongoing support from hostile elements.

In this regard, the spokesperson stated that Pakistan remains one of the countries most severely affected by terrorism. He noted that more than 90,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives as a result of terrorist violence over the years, underscoring the scale of the country’s sacrifices in its fight for peace and stability.

“These sacrifices stand as a living reminder of Pakistan’s constant resolve against terrorism,” the spokesperson said.

He added that Pakistan’s comprehensive counterterrorism efforts have not only protected its own citizens but have also contributed significantly to regional and international security.

The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies continue to conduct effective and intelligence-based operations against militant networks. He referred to recent counterterrorism actions, including an operation in Dera Ismail Khan in which security forces neutralized seven militants while one soldier embraced martyrdom, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Furthermore, the spokesperson recalled the 2014 Army Public School (APS) attack in Peshawar, in which innocent children and teachers were brutally killed.

He described the tragedy as an enduring and powerful symbol of the nation’s collective determination to eliminate terrorism in all its forms.

“The sacrifice of the APS children remains etched in the national memory and continues to guide Pakistan’s firm stance against extremism,” he said.

The spokesperson confirmed that Pakistan maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and is fully committed to its complete eradication. He stressed that counterterrorism remains a national priority, supported by sustained military operations, strengthened law enforcement capacity, and coordinated intelligence efforts.

Calling for greater international engagement, the spokesperson urged the global community to recognize Pakistan’s sacrifices and acknowledge its contributions to the fight against terrorism. He emphasized the need for enhanced international cooperation to address the transnational nature of terrorist threats.

“Terrorism is a shared challenge that requires collective action,” he said. “Pakistan stands ready to work with its international partners to promote peace, stability, and security in the region and beyond.”

The briefing concluded with a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s resolve to continue its efforts against terrorism while advocating for collaborative global measures to confront and eliminate extremist violence.
