Pakistan’s economy, investor confidence in revival, says Bloomberg

Pakistan's economic recovery, the global financial magazine Bloomberg has reported strong positive momentum for the country's economy and a major restoration of investor confidence.

ISLAMABAD: In a significant endorsement of Pakistan’s economic recovery, the global financial magazine Bloomberg has reported strong positive momentum for the country’s economy and a major restoration of investor confidence.

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Pakistan’s dollar bonds have delivered an impressive 24.5 percent return this year, a performance that ranks first in Asia. The analysis suggests that this upward trend is likely to continue, signaling robust international market interest.

The report highlights a key driver behind this surge: upgrades to Pakistan’s credit rating by major agencies S&P Global and Fitch Ratings. These upgrades have substantially strengthened confidence among international investors, making Pakistani debt instruments more attractive.

As a direct result of this improved financial standing, Bloomberg states that Pakistan is now positioned to return to the global debt market after a two-year hiatus. The country’s plans are reportedly firm, with a return to the U.N. bonds market anticipated for this year, followed by a re-entry into the Eurobonds market in 2026.

This planned return to international capital markets is both a cause and effect of the renewed investor faith. The report concludes that the successful performance of existing dollar bonds and the positive credit rating actions have collectively doubled investor confidence, marking a dramatic turnaround for Pakistan’s economic prospects on the world stage.

In a separate development, Russia has followed Iran’s lead and offered to mediate escalating tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, highlighting international concern over regional stability.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated during a press briefing that stability in the region is a priority for both Russia and the international community. She described Pakistan and Afghanistan as “important partners” and warned that the current border tensions between them pose a direct threat to regional security.

Zakharova emphasized that reconciliation efforts are essential for ensuring lasting peace. The Russian Foreign Ministry declared negotiations to be the “only sustainable solution to the conflict” and called on both nations to exercise restraint. It demanded that Pakistan and Afghanistan resolve their differences through dialogue and refrain from any actions that could further escalate tensions.
