Forces foil several attacks in Balochistan

KHAR: Tensions flared along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border in Bajaur after  cross-border firing by Afghan Taliban forces, prompting a strong retaliatory response from security forces, according to security sources.

Officials stated that armed elements from across the border opened fire using both small and heavy weapons at multiple locations in the Bajaur region. The attack reportedly targeted Pakistani positions, creating a brief but intense exchange of fire.

In response, Pakistani security forces acted swiftly and decisively, returning fire and targeting the Taliban positions. Security sources claimed that the posts from which the firing originated were effectively engaged and neutralized during the operation.

According to initial reports, at least 15 militants were killed as a result of the retaliatory action carried out by the Pakistan Army. Officials described the response as “vigorous and effective,” adding that enemy firing was successfully silenced.

Authorities said the situation is now under control, while security forces remain on high alert in the border region to respond to any further escalation.
