PARACHINAR: In a forceful response to recent aggression, the Pakistan Army launched heavy retaliatory assaults against Afghan Taliban positions in the Kurram tribal district on the Afghan border this Wednesday.
Security sources report that five Afghan Taliban frontline posts have been erased in the operation. Facing the assault, Taliban fighters and their insurgent allies were seen retreating from their positions, leaving their injured and dead on the battlefield.
Thermal drone footage released by the Pak Army purportedly shows the aftermath of the strikes, with Taliban artillery positions destroyed and their fighters in flight.
This military action comes in response to an unprovoked attack by the Afghan Taliban last week, on 12th October, along multiple crossings of the Durand Line. According to previous accounts, that assault was successfully repelled by Pakistani forces, who reportedly captured thirty Afghan posts and killed dozens of fighters, including high-ranking Taliban commanders, in retaliatory strikes.
