RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces executed a resolute response along the entire Pak-Afghan border in retaliation to hostilities initiated by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA, referring to Afghan Taliban forces) on February 26, 2026.
The operation involved a punishment fire plan targeting multiple forward TTA posts across all sectors, effectively degrading their military-oriented capabilities and associated infrastructure.
During the day, Pakistani forces captured an additional five TTA posts as part of quid pro quo (QPQ) tasks in various sectors.
In specific areas, including Tirah, Mohmand, and Khyber, TTA attempted to reinforce positions and build up forces, but these efforts were swiftly neutralized through precise and punishing artillery and mortar fires.
Other sporadic attempts involving small arms fire from a distance were also suppressed effectively.
According to intercepted wireless communications and field reports, TTA and associated Kharji elements sustained further casualties, while no losses were reported among Pakistani security forces across the front.
Confirmed TTA losses include 415 killed, over 580 injured, 182 posts destroyed, and 31 posts captured.
Additionally, 186 tanks, armored personnel carriers, and vehicles were destroyed, with air operations targeting 41 locations.
At numerous points along the border, TTA forces have raised white flags on their posts, signaling a desire for de-escalation and indicating reluctance to continue engagements.
In the Zhob sector, Pakistani forces firmly hold the strategically important Ghudwana Enclave, covering 32 square kilometers.
Nearby TTA positions in the area have largely been vacated, with white flags observed.
Captured weapons, vehicles, and equipment from TTA have been relocated to rear headquarters for further assessment and processing.
This development occurs amid ongoing cross-border tensions, where both sides have exchanged claims of strikes and casualties in recent days.
