UPPER DIR: UPPER DIR: Police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed nine terrorists, including a local commander of Fitna al-Khawarij, taking the total number of Khawarij killed during the three-day operation in Upper Dir to 20, officials confirmed.
Two civilians embraced martyrdom while 10 personnel of the Rapid Response Force, and Elite Force were also injured in the exchange of fire during the operation.
According to the Upper Dir SSP, the operation covered 20 square kilometers and was carried out in the areas of Hill Top, Dobando Dara, Masala Banda, Shandal Bagh, Itan Dara, Bagh Kalle, Sanger, and Shandal Bagh. The police, Elite Force, and Rapid Response Force took part in the operation.
The SSP confirmed that the dead included local Khawarij commander Sajidullah. He said two civilians were martyred while 10 personnel from the police and CTD sustained injuries during the operation.
The CTD stated that slain commander Sajid had been involved in multiple cowardly attacks against police and other security forces.
Upper Dir District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Muhammad Bilal vowed that targeted operations would continue until the complete elimination of Fitna al-Khawarij. He also praised local residents, saying their cooperation with security forces was commendable.
