QUETTA: The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has launched a large-scale operation named “Girift” to curb rampant gas theft in Balochistan. In response to a surge in illegal gas usage across various districts, the company has formed multiple teams to carry out targeted actions in Quetta, Kuchlak, Pishin, Ziarat, Mastung, and Kalat.
According to SSGC sources, the operation has already led to the disconnection of dozens of unauthorized gas connections, with legal proceedings initiated against several individuals involved in gas theft.
The company has made it clear that no leniency will be shown to gas thieves, regardless of whether the theft occurs at the domestic, commercial, or industrial level. The raiding teams are actively removing illegal gas connections and identifying culprits for prosecution.
