KABUL: One Afghan security guard was killed and two Chinese nationals were injured in an explosion at a restaurant in Kabul on Monday, according to the Afghan media.
The blast was reported at a restaurant in central Kabul on Monday afternoon. The injured were shifted to a hospital, the Global Times said. The Kabul-based Tolo News, meanwhile, reported that several civilians died as a result of an explosion that occurred in the Shahr-e-Naw area of Kabul.
An explosion was confirmed by Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zahran in a statement posted on X. No details on the cause were provided.
Video footage circulated on social media showed people fleeing the area. Smoke was seen rising from the site. One person was seen lying on the ground.
The explosion was also confirmed by Taliban police spokesman Khalid Zadran. The incident was reported at a hotel on Gulforoshi Street in Kabul’s Shahr-e-Naw area.

Casualties were reported in the blast, he said. Investigation teams were deployed to determine the nature of the explosion.
