ISLAMABAD: The federal government has released Pakistan’s official schedule of the 2026 public holidays for the new year.
According to the notification, a total of 11 public holidays and 23 optional holidays will be observed nationwide.
Banks will remain closed on February 18 and July 1, in addition to January 1.
A public holiday will be observed on February 5 to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day. Another nationwide holiday will be held on March 23 for Pakistan Day.
The expected Eid al-Fitr holidays have been listed for April 21, 22, and 23. A public holiday will also be observed on May 1 for International Labour Day, followed by a holiday on May 28 to mark Youm-e-Takbeer.
Eid al-Adha holidays are expected to fall on May 27, 28, and 29.
Public holidays will be observed on June 24 and 25 for the 9th and 10th of Muharram, respectively.
A nationwide holiday will be held on August 14 to mark Independence Day.
A public holiday is likely on August 25 for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). Another holiday is expected on November 9 for the birth anniversary of national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
December 25 will be observed as Quaid-e-Azam Day with a nationwide public holiday. A holiday on December 26 has also been announced for the Christian community.

Authorities said official notifications for Eid holidays, Muharram, and Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be issued separately, subject to the sighting of the moon. Top of Form
