ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing the party of engaging in conspiracies to harm Pakistan for political gain, while PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan defended the party founder’s family, stating they have the right to speak out.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar condemned recent activities involving the sons of PTI founder Imran Khan and party leader Zulfi Bukhari. He described a “sad situation” in Geneva, labeling propaganda against Pakistan as “unbearable.”
“No political party or leader can be bigger than Pakistan,” Tarar asserted. He singled out Arif Ajakia, accusing him of involvement in anti-Pakistan activities. The minister claimed that a video showing Zulfi Bukhari meeting with Ajakia was “not just a coincidence,” alleging that PTI is running a campaign against the country.
Tarar criticized the party’s political opposition, saying mockery of the country was unbearable. He accused PTI of never condemning Israel from its social accounts and alleged that the party had brought Pakistan to the “brink of default.” He further claimed they had “prayed” for a default and sought to harm exporters by jeopardizing Pakistan’s GSP Plus status.
Echoing similar sentiments, Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari alleged that both sons of the PTI founder met with the Israeli lobby in America, attempting to make Pakistan’s GSP status controversial. She termed these actions as a “second May 9 against Pakistan.”
In response, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar strongly condemned Atta Tarar’s remarks. Speaking to Geo News, Gohar clarified that the sons of the party founder are apolitical and have the legitimate right to raise their voice for their father. He denied that they said a single word against the GSP Plus status.
