Islamabad: The national cricket team has returned home after a disappointing performance in the ICC T20 World Cup, drawing strong criticism from fans.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is also reportedly unhappy with the team’s showing and has begun considering strict measures.
As an initial step, the PCB has officially imposed a heavy fine of Rs. 5 million on each player.
Alongside the financial penalties, major changes within the squad are also under discussion, including the possible removal of some players from the team.
There are also reports that the board is reviewing Salman Ali Agha’s position as captain.
Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has claimed that the PCB is seriously considering appointing Sahibzada Farhan as the new captain for both T20 and ODI formats. According to him, Farhan is among the prominent names being evaluated for the leadership role. It is worth noting that Sahibzada Farhan scored 383 runs in the tournament, including two centuries, making him the highest run-scorer of the event so far.
