ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert as three rain systems enter Pakistan today. The alert will remain in effect until August 30.
NDMA warned that heavy rains could trigger urban flooding and landslides across the country. Low-lying areas in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir may face flooding. Mountainous regions such as Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan face high landslide risks.
Sindh and Balochistan districts are likely to see heavy rain between August 27 and 30. Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, and Tharparkar are included in the alert. Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Nawabshah, Dadu, Khairpur, Sukkur, Ghotki, and Larkana also face risks. Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, and Shaheed Benazirabad may witness similar conditions.
In Balochistan, heavy rainfall is expected in Lasbela, Khuzdar, Awaran, Qalat, Gwadar, Turbat, Kech, and Panjgur. Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, and Loralai could also receive downpours. Barkhan, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, and Kohlu may experience intermittent showers.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, flash floods could hit Chitral, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Abbottabad, Nowshera, Charsadda, and Swabi. NDMA also warned of rising river flows at Taunsa, Guddu, and Kalabagh, which may endanger nearby settlements.
Authorities have been told to remain on high alert to handle any emergency.
