NASIRABAD: A severe spike in crime has sent shockwaves through the Nasirabad district, with police reporting multiple armed motorcycle snatchings, a transformer theft, and the recovery of a live hand grenade in a single day, prompting serious public safety concerns.

According to local police, the crime spree involved several brazen incidents. In the Dera Murad Jamali area near Model High School Chowk, armed men snatched a CD 70 motorcycle from Abdul Qadeer Lehari. In a separate but similar event near Chhatar Road, three armed suspects stole a motorcycle from Abdul Waheed, a school headmaster, after threatening him with firearms. Adding to the chaos, another motorcycle was stolen from near Allied Bank Mosque.

The criminal activities extended beyond personal property. Thieves targeted essential infrastructure, dismantling a 50kV transformer serving two local Goths and stealing its valuable coils, plunging the area into darkness and disrupting daily life.

In a particularly alarming security incident, a hand grenade was discovered near the gate of the Dera Murad Jamali Saddar Police Station itself. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was promptly dispatched and safely neutralized the device, averting a potential tragedy.

The convergence of violent robberies, infrastructure sabotage, and a direct threat to a police station has left residents terrified and demanding immediate action. Local communities have urgently called upon law enforcement agencies to intensify patrols, track down the culprits, and restore order to the district. Police have confirmed that investigations into all the incidents are actively underway.

Meanwhile in a powerful display of unity, the Balochistan Assembly unanimously passed a joint resolution on Friday, demanding an immediate end to the prolonged and crippling gas and electricity load shedding plaguing the province.

The resolution, presented by JUI member Asghar Ali Tareen during a session chaired by Speaker Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, highlighted the severe public suffering. Tareen stated that gas cuts during harsh winters and electricity outages in extreme summers have made life “unbearable” for residents across all districts
