NAP not being implemented in KP, says Abid Sher Ali

ISLAMABAD: Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Senator Abid Sher Ali has leveled serious allegations against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, asserting that it is failing to implement the National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism.

Speaking on Dunya News’ program “On the Front,” the PML-N leader also took aim at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership, particularly its founder, over what he termed a “fake illness narrative.”

“If the founder of PTI is sick, then may Allah grant him health. However, we will not make fun of anyone’s illness like him,” Senator Abid Sher Ali stated. He claimed that the PTI founder is not actually ill, contrasting the situation with the treatment of his own party’s leader. “When Nawaz Sharif was in jail, there was a ban on meetings. We do not believe in political revenge. It is PTI people themselves who are making their leader sick.”

The Senator further criticized PTI’s tenure in government, alleging that political opponents were systematically targeted. He also raised concerns over what he described as a campaign against state institutions. “Venom is being spewed against the institutions on social media,” he added.

Reiterating his core accusation against the provincial government, Abid Sher Ali said, “The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government did not implement the National Action Plan.” He further claimed that during the PTI era, “the Taliban were released from prisons,” implying a soft approach towards militancy that undermines national counter-terrorism efforts.
