NADRA office in Kalat demands thumbprint from dead woman

NADRA Cracks Down: 1,000 Families Noticed for Suspected Fraudulent ID Cards

KALAT:  In a press conference at the Kalat Press Club, local political and tribal leader Habib Lango made serious allegations against the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office in Kalat, claiming that the office has become a source of extortion rather than a public convenience.

Lango recounted his attempt to obtain an identity card, for which he presented his wife’s ID card, his parents’ IDs, their marriage certificate, and their children’s B-Forms. Despite this documentation, he alleged that NADRA staff insisted he provide the thumbprint of his mother-in-law.

“I told them that my mother-in-law died ten years ago. How can I bring her?” Lango stated. He further claimed that officials then asked him for a bribe of fifty thousand rupees, suggesting the issue could be resolved upon payment.

Expressing his frustration, Lango questioned the logic of the demand, given that his own ID, his parents’ IDs, and his marriage certificate are already on record with NADRA. He alleged that the staff was intentionally treating him as a “refugee” despite the evidence.

Lango vowed to escalate the matter, announcing his intention to hold a further press conference at the Quetta Press Club with his entire family and all relevant documents.
