NADRA Introduces Digital Vehicle Ownership Transfer

KARACHI: NADRA has made vehicle buying and selling in Sindh easier and more modern. Citizens can now transfer vehicle ownership from home.

The service allows users to complete biometric verification through the Pak ID mobile app. Once verified, the transfer process can begin. Officials say the move will save citizens from long queues and unnecessary office visits.

A NADRA spokesperson said the initiative was launched in collaboration with the Sindh government. The goal is to eliminate fraud, forgery, and legal complications in vehicle transactions.

Previously, vehicle ownership transfers required in-person visits to Excise and Taxation offices in Sindh. Biometric verification was mandatory, creating significant inconvenience for citizens.

The transfer process begins with biometric verification of both the buyer and the seller. A written sale agreement is then prepared on stamp paper and signed by both parties.

The application is submitted at the SoC Center in Karachi or the Excise and Taxation office. Applicants pay the required fee and token tax. After verification, a new smart registration card is issued in the buyer’s name within 5 to 15 working days.

Sellers must provide the original registration book or smart card, a copy of their CNIC, a signed application, the sale agreement, a clearance certificate, and a passport-sized photo. Buyers must submit a CNIC copy, passport-sized photo, valid vehicle tax certificate, proof of residence, and vehicle inspection certificate.
