QUETTA: A major anti-corruption operation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Balochistan has uncovered a powerful network illegally occupying government land.
The network reportedly includes relatives of prominent political figures, officials from the Board of Revenue, and members of the land mafia.
Investigations reveal that profits from the unauthorized sale of plots were funneled into shell companies based abroad.
Notably, one of these companies has been traced back to a member of the Balochistan National Party (BNP).
The findings highlight not only deep-rooted monetary corruption but also raise concerns about potential financial support for militant activities.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has made significant strides in Balochistan over the past decade, reclaiming large swathes of illegally occupied government land.
In one of its most notable recent operations, NAB Balochistan recovered 340 acres of land belonging to Chiltan Park and 250 acres from the Forest Department, collectively valued at approximately Rs 6.45 billion, during the first quarter of 2025 alone.
Sources confirm that NAB has been actively pursuing land grab cases involving influential individuals, bureaucrats, and organized land mafias across the province.
While exact figures for the past ten years remain undisclosed, reports suggest that billions of rupees worth of land has been retrieved from illegal possession in multiple operations conducted since 2015.
NAB officials state that these recoveries are part of a broader anti-corruption strategy targeting encroachments on public property and misuse of authority.
