MPA’s Dr. Hameed Ur Rahman house targeted with explosives in Bajaur

BAJAUR: The resident of the Member of Provincial Assembly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Hameed Ur Rahman, came under attack after the unknown assailants, believed to be the terrorists associated with Fitna al Khawarij, targeted the house with an explosive device on Thursday morning.

In the explosion, the gate of the house was damaged. However, no casualties were reported.

Dr. Hameed Ur Rahman is an elected MPA from the PK-19 Bajaur-I who won the 2024 general elections as a PTI-backed independent candidate.


Bajaur, one of the seven districts of the erstwhile FATA, has witnessed a sharp rise in targeted attacks against politicians from across the political spectrum in recent years.

Terrorists associated with the Indian proxy as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Daesh (Islamic State Khorasan Province – ISKP) have intensified their operations in the region, frequently targeting politicians, peacenic activists, and party leaders.  Most recently, the anti-war peacenic Maulana Khanzeb was shot and dead in Bajaur while compaining for a peace rally against the rising terror violence.

The following timeline highlights major incidents involving political figures in Bajaur.

30 July 2023: Khar Suicide Bombing

A suicide attack struck a JUI‑F rally in Khar, Bajaur, killing at least 63 people and injuring nearly 200. The Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) claimed responsibility.

31 January 2024: Assassination of Rehan Zeb Khan

Rehan Zeb Khan, a PTI-affiliated independent National Assembly candidate from NA‑8 (Bajaur), was shot dead while canvassing at Siddiqabad Phattak Bazar. Multiple supporters were injured. The attack occurred shortly before the general elections. Authorities reported that the election in NA‑8 was postponed afterward.

3 July 2024:  Former Senator Hidayatullah Khan Killed in IED Attack

Former senator and ANP leader Hidayatullah Khan was killed along with four companions in an IED blast in Damadola, Mamund Tehsil. He had been campaigning for his nephew’s by‑election. Authorities suspect ISKP involvement

14 November 2024:  Sufi Hameed Assassinated

Jamaat-e-Islami local general secretary Sufi Hameed was shot dead by masked gunmen after evening prayers. ISIS-K claimed responsibility, dubbing him an “apostate party official.” This reflects ongoing threats to political figures in the region.

 15 June: MNA Mubarak Zeb’s house in Bajaur sustains second attack

The residence of the prime minister’s special assistant on tribal district,s Mubarak Zeb Khan in Bajaur district, came under attack for the second time in a month after unknown assailants targeted the house with a rocket before making their escape under the cover of darkness.

“The roc­ket fired by the unknown attackers damaged the main gate and a portion of the boundary wall of the house,” said Mian Habib Gul, a close relative of the lawmaker. MNA Mubarak Zeb, in a social media post, confirmed the attack. “Someone has once again targeted my home in Bajaur…but thankfully all my family members remained safe,” he said.

2 July 2025: Bombing Targets Senior Officials

A roadside IED exploded under a government convoy on Nawagai Road (Khar Tehsil), resulting in five deaths—including the Assistant Commissioner Nawagai and a tehsildar—and injuring many others. ISKP claimed responsibility.

10 July 2025: ANP Leader Maulana Khan Zaib Shot Dead

Maulana Khan Zaib, ANP secretary for Ulema Affairs and leading peace advocate, was gunned down while campaigning for a peace march. A policeman assigned for his security was also killed, and several associates were wounded. The attack occurred near Khar.
