Weather department forecasts more rains upper areas

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Forecast for Late February and Early March 2026

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has indicated the possibility of rainfall in the country’s upper and northern regions during the final days of February and the beginning of March, coinciding with the early phase of Ramadan Mubarak (expected to commence around February 19, 2026, subject to moon sighting).

According to PMD officials, scattered rain (and potential snowfall in higher elevations) is likely in northern areas such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and parts of upper Punjab during this period, influenced by approaching western disturbances.

In Karachi and its surrounding areas, fog (or smog-like conditions) may develop over the next few days due to increased moisture in the air following the resumption of sea breezes. However, no rainfall is expected in the city itself.

Daytime temperatures in Karachi are projected to range between 30°C and 32°C in the coming days. Heat intensity is anticipated to rise noticeably from the second week of March onward, making conditions warmer across southern regions.

Overall, while the holy month is expected to start with mostly pleasant and comfortable weather in many parts of the country, a gradual shift toward higher temperatures is forecasted as March progresses, particularly in central and southern Pakistan.

Residents in northern hilly areas should stay updated for any weather alerts related to rain or snow, while those in Karachi and coastal belts may experience foggy mornings but dry, increasingly warm days.
