Islamabad: The Emirates Cricket Board has contacted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). According to sources, the United Arab Emirates Cricket Board reached out to the PCB and requested a reconsideration of its decision to boycott the match against India scheduled for February 15.
The Emirates Cricket Board told the PCB that the Pakistan-India match is in the best interest of international cricket and urged the PCB to allow its team to play against India.
This contact from the UAE board comes at a time when ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja is present in Lahore, where an ongoing meeting is taking place with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on this very issue.
Also present at the meeting is the head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Aminul Islam.
It is worth noting that ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja and BCB President Aminul Islam are expected to depart today immediately after this important meeting.
The purpose of Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja’s visit to Pakistan is to persuade the PCB to reverse its decision not to play the match against India.
The meeting between the parties was originally scheduled to conclude by 9 PM but has now been extended.
