Mobile internet service proposed to be suspended in Balochistan

Islamabad: The Federal Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control has proposed the suspension of 3G and 4G internet services across Balochistan for a period of two months in view of the recent surge in terrorism and deteriorating law and order situation.

According to an official letter sent by the ministry to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the proposal has been made as a temporary security measure.

The ministry stated that the step aims to help maintain stability and support security operations being conducted in sensitive areas of the province.

It is worth mentioning that Balochistan has been hit with the suspension of mobile internet services on numerous occasions adding to the miseries and the troubles of the people.

The halt of mobile internet service causes interruptions for jobs, businesses and other public sectors.

The people suffer in the education, transport and home deliveries businesses areas.

An area of no development infrastructure, poverty and backwardness cannot be left alone with more deprivation.

Government and security officials state that such measures have become unavoidable due to the worsening law and order situation in the province.

However, ordinary citizens argue that similar actions in the past have not produced positive results.

They believe that shutting down mobile internet services only creates difficulties for the general public.

The government had suspended the mobile internet services in t August this year which lasted for the whole month.

The Panjgur area is hit with the closure of mobile internet service for the past four years.

There is another interesting fact about the mobile internet service in Balochistan that even when the service is not officially closed, it remains quite poor and slow.
