RAW-funded BLA mouthpiece Mir Yar Baloch continues anti-state propaganda

QUETTA: Social media activists and analysts from Balochistan have strongly rejected a recent article by Mir Yar Baloch, an activist affiliated with the internationally designated terrorist outfit Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), calling it a “RAW-funded propaganda piece” aimed at maligning Pakistan’s state institutions and promoting separatist agendas.

A security official described Mir Yar Baloch as “a self-exiled proxy operating from India under the supervision of RAW,” accusing him of spreading “anti-state narratives on foreign platforms to justify terrorism in Balochistan.”

Officials said that contrary to his claims, Pakistan has been one of the worst victims of terrorism, having lost more than 94,000 civilians and security personnel in militant attacks over the past two decades. “Operations Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad dismantled major terror networks and restored peace across the country,” the official said.

Experts also rejected assertions that Pakistan’s economy or its military is financed through Balochistan’s resources. “Balochistan contributes roughly 3 to 5 percent to Pakistan’s GDP. Revenues from gas, minerals, and ports are collected by the federal government and redistributed among provinces under the NFC Award, a constitutionally defined mechanism,” an economist explained.

Pakistan’s 18th Constitutional Amendment devolved extensive powers and fiscal autonomy to provinces, ensuring a fair distribution of authority. “Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa all have elected assemblies operating under Pakistan’s federal constitution,” the Interior Ministry stated.

Officials further accused India’s intelligence agency, RAW, of sponsoring separatist and militant outfits such as the BLA and BLF, which have targeted economic projects and civilians in Balochistan. The arrest and confessional statement of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, they said, provided direct evidence of foreign involvement in fueling unrest.

“Groups like the BLA are not liberation movements — they are terrorist organisations financed by India to sabotage development projects, especially those linked to CPEC and Gwadar Port,” a senior counterterrorism analyst noted.

Pakistan maintains that revenues from gas fields, mineral extraction, and port operations are regulated through federal agreements and internationally audited investment frameworks, not through any “covert military funding network” as alleged in the article.

Officials also dismissed Mir Yar Baloch’s call for international recognition of so-called “Balochistan and Sindhudesh republics” as a “failed separatist fantasy rejected by the Baloch people themselves.”

Pakistan and Bangladesh, both members of OIC and SAARC, maintain diplomatic and trade relations, and no credible international institution has ever alleged that Pakistan operates terror networks abroad, officials added.

“Such propaganda narratives are recycled by India-backed proxies whenever Pakistan’s global standing improves,” the statement concluded, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to counterterrorism, regional stability, and constitutional federalism.
