QUETTA: A dangerous and highly contagious disease has spread among goats in various areas of Lasbela, resulting in a large number of deaths.
According to local sources, the illness is rapidly spreading across different regions, severely affecting livestock and causing significant financial losses for poor farmers.
Affected goats are reportedly showing severe symptoms, including high fever, weakness, breathing difficulties, body sores, and internal organ damage.
Veterinary experts have stated that the disease appears to be spreading silently, and many animals die shortly after symptoms emerge.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, there is currently a lack of adequate medical facilities, vaccines, and medicines in the affected areas.
Residents have expressed deep concern, stating that the disease has already wiped out entire herds in some villages, pushing vulnerable families toward economic hardship.
Locals have criticized the relevant livestock and district administrations for their delayed response and lack of preventive measures.
Citizens have urged the Balochistan government and livestock authorities to immediately declare an emergency in Lasbela, dispatch veterinary teams, and ensure the urgent supply of vaccines and medicines.
They warn that if immediate action is not taken, the disease could spread further, causing even greater losses to livelihoods and food security in the region.
