LAKI MARWAT: In a joint operation, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Lakki and Lakki Marwat police eliminated a highly wanted terrorist commander, Barkatullah alias Barkati alias Abu Zar.
According to the Lakki Marwat police spokesperson, the action took place in the outskirts of Wanda Amir Khan area in Lakki district, with volunteers from public peace committees also assisting the police.
Targeted operations against terrorists across the province continue under the special directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed.
In this regard, under the leadership of DIG Bannu Region Sajjad Khan and District Police Officer Lakki Marwat Nazeer Khan (PSP), CTD Special Weapons and Tactics teams along with local police conducted the operation against Fitna al-Khawarij.
During the operation, the terrorist commander and his accomplices opened fire on the police party, leading to an exchange of gunfire from both sides. As a result, the terrorist commander was killed on the spot.
Subsequently, during a search operation, his body and the weapons in his possession were recovered, while his associates escaped by taking advantage of the rugged terrain in the area. The search for them is ongoing.
According to police, the killed terrorist was the leader and facilitator of active terrorist groups operating under various fake names, and was wanted by CTD and Lakki police in more than 10 serious cases, including terrorism, attacks on police and security forces, murder, attempted murder, and extortion.
The slain terrorist was also involved in the targeted killings and martyrdom of Constables Samiullah and Asadullah (residents of Begu Khel), Constable Hafiz Zainatullah, and former Levies personnel Hayatullah.
Bannu Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan and Additional IG CTD commended the CTD Lakki, Lakki Marwat police, and peace committee volunteers for the successful operation, stating that the police and public are united in establishing peace and security, and Lakki Marwat will soon be transformed into a cradle of peace.
