Mehsud-Burki Jirga vows unity with forces, seeks development in South Waziristan

Grand jirga of tribal elders held in Spinkai Raghzai with IGFC

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: The grand jirga of Mehsud and Burki tribal elders was held in Spinkai Raghzai, attended by Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (South) as the chief guest.

The gathering brought together prominent elders from both tribes, who paid rich tribute to the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (South) for their sacrifices in ensuring lasting peace in the region. 

The tribal elders reasserted their constant resolve to stand shoulder to shoulder with the security forces until the complete eradication of the menace of Khawarij militants.

He also mentioned the crucial role of tribal elders in safeguarding the younger generation from the negative propaganda of anti-state elements, urging continued vigilance and unity.

The IGFC stressed the importance of collective efforts to protect peace and stability, noting that the tribal elders’ wisdom and leadership are vital in countering extremist narratives. 

The IGFC assured the Mehsud tribes that work on their longstanding demand for the construction of the Gorbaz to Mangroatai Road, would commence soon.

The tribal elders, in turn, expressed appreciation for the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps’ initiatives in launching multiple development projects, particularly those aimed at promoting girls’ education in South Waziristan. They reasserted their support for ongoing efforts to uplift the region socially, economically, and educationally.

The jirga ended on a note of mutual commitment, with both tribal leaders and security officials vowing to maintain unity and work collectively for a peaceful and prosperous South Waziristan.
