QUETTA: Balochistan’s Provincial Advisor for Sports and Youth Affairs, Meena Majeed Baloch, issued a strong condemnation on Wednesday following the torching of multiple mobile phone towers by terrorist groups in the Mand area.

In an official statement, the advisor denounced the acts as “cowardly and terrorist,” warning that such sabotage campaigns pose a direct obstacle to social development and inflict serious harm on the common people of Balochistan. The attack, which occurred on Tuesday, disrupted communication services in the region.

Meena Majeed, a native of the affected Mand area, emphasized that such violence yields no benefit for the perpetrators. Instead, she stated, it severely impacts the daily lives of ordinary citizens, cripples essential communication systems, and disrupts business and economic activities. She argued that these attacks ultimately punish the local population, hindering progress and isolating communities.

“The Baloch people will resist such cowardly actions at all costs,” the advisor declared, asserting that terrorist elements would never succeed in their “nefarious objectives” to destabilize the province through the destruction of public infrastructure.

Calling for immediate intervention, Meena Majeed Baloch urged the federal government and all relevant institutions to take effective and prompt action against the growing trend of terrorism. She stressed the need for enhanced security measures to protect the basic rights of citizens, safeguard critical communication facilities, and secure ongoing development projects across Balochistan.

The statement highlights ongoing security challenges in parts of the province, where infrastructure vital for connectivity and economic activity remains a target. The advisor’s public stance underscores a growing official resolve to shield development gains and civilian life from militant disruption, framing the protection of communication networks as essential for both public welfare and regional stability.

Meanwhile the Government of Balochistan has formally declared educational services across the province as an “essential service,” imposing a blanket ban on strikes, lockouts, and illegal actions in the sector for the next six months. The decision, enacted under the Balochistan Essential Education Services Act of 2019, aims to shield students from academic disruption.
