RAWALPINDI: A five-member team of doctors conducted a detailed one-hour medical examination of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.
The check-up, which focused on his eyes, included various tests performed using a mobile medical lab.
According to Adiala Jail Superintendent Sajid Baig’s statement, the specialist team from different hospitals arrived at the facility equipped with necessary medical equipment and medicines.
The examination was supervised by a two-member medical board, and included a thorough eye check-up of the former prime minister.
Despite the government’s invitation to PTI leadership to be present during the examination, no party leader arrived at the jail.
The medical team waited for about one and a half hours for any PTI representatives, but proceeded with the check-up at Imran Khan’s consent after the wait.
Jail sources reported that the team included board members Dr. Nadeem Qureshi and Dr. Amjad, along with other doctors: Dr. Rafiq, Dr. Sikandar, Dr. Arif, and a medical technician.
Strict security arrangements were in place during the procedure.
The doctors are expected to compile and submit a detailed report to the government soon.
This examination follows Supreme Court directives amid concerns over Imran Khan’s reported vision loss in his right eye (previously claimed to be reduced to around 15% due to central retinal vein occlusion and alleged delays in treatment).
PTI has rejected such examinations conducted without family members or personal physicians, describing them as malicious in some reports.
