Measles outbreak in Killa Abdullah: Four children lose lives

Quetta: A measles outbreak has erupted in the Killa Abdullah district of Balochistan, tragically claiming the lives of four young children.

The incident occurred in the village of Killi Abdul Rehmanzai, located in the Gulistan tehsil. According to reports, all the deceased children belonged to the same family.

The victims were identified as Karwan Khan, Bibi Wameeman, Bibi Malalai, and Khushhaal Khan — grandchildren of a man named Abdul Kareem.

The children have been laid to rest in the local graveyard.

With fears of more children potentially affected, local residents have appealed to government officials and the health department to take immediate and emergency action to contain the outbreak.

Over the past ten years, Balochistan has faced multiple public health crises due to poor healthcare infrastructure, limited vaccination coverage, and remote geography.

Epidemics such as measles, hepatitis, malaria, and typhoid have repeatedly hit districts like Killa Abdullah, Zhob, and Jhal Magsi.

The lack of consistent immunization campaigns and insufficient access to clean water and sanitation have made rural populations especially vulnerable.
