Maulana Wasi projects JUI-F win in Quetta Local Body Elections

QUETTA: Maulana Abdul Wasi, the Provincial Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), has expressed unwavering confidence in his party’s success in the upcoming local government elections in Quetta, declaring that “success is our destiny.”

Speaking to a delegation of the party’s nominated councilors on Thursday, Maulana Wasi stated that a clear public mandate is shifting towards the JUI-F across Balochistan, including the provincial capital. He asserted that the party’s record of addressing public problems and delivering development and employment for the youth is unmatched. “The amount of development work and employment provided to the youth in Balochistan is on record, which no other party has even tried,” he claimed.

However, the senator acknowledged historical challenges, alleging that “powerful forces of the time” have consistently created obstacles to remove the party from power. Dismissing the mere pursuit of political office, he emphasized, “Power does not mean anything to us, rather we believe in the power of the people.”

With Quetta poised for elections on a local government basis, the JUI-F has nominated candidates for all union councils. Maulana Wasi issued a crucial directive to these candidates, urging them to maintain constant contact with the provincial and district leadership to ensure a coordinated campaign. This strategy, he stressed, is vital for achieving success not only in the elections but also in delivering on core municipal promises, such as installing water meters across all four towns of Quetta.

He credited the JUI-F as the sole political and religious party genuinely invested in solving public issues, a reputation he believes will secure their victory. “We will definitely achieve success in the coming time as well,” Maulana Wasi concluded, projecting an optimistic outlook for the party’s performance in the impending polls and its future governance agenda.

Meanwhile Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders declared on Wednesday that holding local government LG polls in Quetta is essential for solving citizens’ grassroots issues, as the party formally launched its campaign for the upcoming elections.
