GWADAR: In a significant move to address long-standing civic issues, Chairman Gwadar Port Authority Noor-ul-Haq Baloch met with Member of Provincial Assembly Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch and local councilors on Tuesday. The meeting focused on pressing public concerns, with several key decisions announced.

A primary agenda item was the chronic drainage problem in the Mulla Band ward, where water from Koh Batil causes severe issues during rains. It was decided that the Chairman, MPA, and concerned councilors will conduct a joint on-site inspection of the area to review the situation firsthand and plan an effective drainage system.

In a major development for public health, Chairman Noor-ul-Haq Baloch announced that the Gwadar Port Authority, in collaboration with the Pakistan Navy, will soon reopen the long-closed Red Crescent Hospital. This initiative is expected to provide essential medical facilities to thousands of residents in Mulla Band and Union Council South.

Addressing utility crises, the Chairman reported that Gwadar’s water shortage has been largely overcome, with the situation steadily improving. He further revealed that the federal cabinet has approved a dedicated 50 MW power plant for Gwadar, which promises a permanent solution to the city’s electricity problems.

MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch appreciated the Chairman’s efforts, stating that the strategies implemented are yielding positive results. The meeting also covered issues related to COPIC contract employees, mall holders, and ongoing development works, emphasizing institutional cooperation for Gwadar’s progress.

Meanwhile the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan (South) seized narcotics worth an estimated Rs4.9 billion during an intelligence-based operation in the Surak area of Panjgur, officials said on Tuesday.

According to FC Balochistan (South), the operation led to the recovery of 570 kilograms of opium and 491 kilograms of cocaine powder. Security forces also arrested two suspects from the site.

Officials said the operation targeted a key drug-trafficking network believed to be linked with elements involved in destabilising activities. They added that the force is pursuing a “zero-tolerance policy” against narcotics and remains committed to dismantling organised drug networks operating in province.
