MASTUNG: A peace jirga was held at the Education Enclave Degree College Auditorium Hall in Mastung, Balochistan, under the joint auspices of the World Peace Program and the District Administration of Mastung. The event aimed to foster dialogue and resolve long-standing issues affecting the Balochistan province.
While addressing the gathering, Head of the World Peace Program, Ayatollah Khan alias as Khan Baba has young men and women who have taken up arms in the mountains to return to the fold of society. He emphasized that peace, development, and prosperity in Balochistan are achievable through unity and collective effort.
Drawing parallels with Swat, where the jirga system helped resolve issues of missing persons and restored peace, Khan Baba expressed optimism about replicating this success in Balochistan.
The jirga was attended by various dignitaries, including Deputy Commissioner Mastung Captain (Retd) Raja Attar Abbas, Commander FC Lieutenant General Imtiaz, and representatives from political and religious parties. Speakers highlighted the challenges faced by the Baloch people, such as enforced disappearances, unemployment, and inadequate access to education and healthcare. They called for a review of state policies to ensure justice and development in the province.
In a significant development, the Chief Secretary announced plans for another Peace Jirga in Mastung after Eid. This division-level jirga aims to establish peace committees at the district level, focusing on the development and upliftment of the people, and addressing basic issues such as education, agriculture, and healthcare.
