QUETTA: Governor Balochistan, Jafar Khan Mandokhel, has underscored the critical role of competent and honest officers as the “backbone of any successful government,” labeling them a vital national asset essential for the province’s prosperity. He emphasized that ensuring good governance in Balochistan is intrinsically linked to empowering these civil servants.
The Governor articulated these views during an interactive session with officer trainees at the Balochistan Civil Service Academy. The event was attended by Principal Secretary Kaleemullah Babar, Director General Dr. Hafeez Jamali, Dr. Shabana, and other senior officials.
Addressing the future administrators, Governor Mandokhel placed a special responsibility upon them to serve the people of Balochistan with “honesty, integrity, and dedication.” He stressed that their pre-service training was a foundational phase, crucial not only for building their skills and knowledge but for shaping their entire governance style and laying the groundwork for a distinguished career.
Acknowledging the systemic challenges facing government institutions, Mandokhel stated it was a collective responsibility to resolve them swiftly. “I know that our government institutions are facing various challenges,” he said, adding that providing necessary facilities and resources to officers and departments was imperative for effective governance.
Striking a note of unwavering optimism, the Governor expressed his firm belief in the immense potential and bright future of both Pakistan and Balochistan. He tied this future directly to the caliber of its civil service. “With the dedication, hard work and commitment of our officers to public service, I am confident that we can overcome any number of obstacles and achieve greatness,” Mandokhel asserted, framing officer training as an investment in the province’s developmental trajectory.
The Quetta Balochistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QBCCI) has formally announced its full support for the strike by transporters, warning of severe repercussions for the provincial economy. The announcement came during a meeting with a high-level delegation of the Balochistan Goods Truck Owners Association Registered.
The Chamber, aligning itself with the key players in the province’s logistics sector, accused the government of imposing the ordinance without consultation, thereby creating “severe reservations” among transporters. QBCCI officials stated that the government must immediately address these grievances to resolve the deadlock.
