Mandatory M-Tag for motorcycles in federal capital, What authorities plan next will surprise you

ISLAMABAD: The authorities have announced that installation of an M-Tag on all motorcycles has been made mandatory, a move officials describe as essential for improving registration systems and traffic monitoring.

The citizens are advised to immediately ensure that their motorcycles are equipped with the required M-Tag to avoid any potential legal complications. The directive applies to all motorcycle owners without exception.

The initiative aims to streamline motorcycle registration, increase traffic surveillance mechanisms, and provide legal protection to vehicle owners.

The decision is part of broader administrative reforms intended to modernize record-keeping and improve enforcement capabilities within the capital territory.

The authorities have outlined a simple procedure for obtaining the M-Tag. Motorcycle owners are required to visit any active M-Tag center with their motorcycle registration documents and valid national identity card.

DG Excise Irfan Memon announced that all M-Tag centers will remain open on Sunday as well. The decision to operate on a weekend reflects the administration’s effort to accommodate working individuals and ensure smooth compliance with the new requirement.

“This step has been taken to ensure transparency, better monitoring, and improved service delivery,” a senior official stated, adding that the authorities are committed to assisting citizens throughout the implementation phase.

This announcement follows recent relief provided to vehicle owners regarding changes in government number plate requirements, signaling a series of administrative adjustments in the transport sector.
