QUETTA: A former retired employee has been arrested in Quetta for alleged involvement in human smuggling and visa fraud, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said.
The arrest was made by the FIA’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Quetta. The suspect was identified as Muhammad Ismail.
The suspect was accused of trapping citizens through social media. Overseas employment was promised in exchange for large sums of money, officials said.
A victim was allegedly deceived with an offer to be sent to Australia. A total of 5.5 million rupees was taken, according to the FIA.
A fake Australian e-visa was later provided to the victim, investigators said.
The suspect has been taken into custody. A formal investigation has been launched.

Raids are being conducted to arrest other suspects involved in the network, the agency said.
