TURBAT: Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, National Party chief and former Chief Minister of Balochistan, has announced the continuation of financial support for schools, hospitals, literary academies, press clubs, and sports teams to foster positive activities and create opportunities for the youth. He made this commitment while inaugurating the third phase of boys’ school sports activities under the Kitch Sports and Fitness Festival.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Baloch emphasized that the identity of vibrant nations lies in their engagement with sports, literature, and positive social pursuits. He issued a strong appeal to the youth, urging them to prioritize education, dedicate at least eighteen years to their studies, and completely avoid drugs and extremism. “The youth are the future of the Baloch nation,” he stated, expressing hope that they would bring glory to the region through knowledge.
Turning to educators, the former chief minister described teaching as a national duty, calling for 100% attendance and honest dedication to improve educational quality. He revealed that during his three-month stay in Turbat, he has daily visited educational institutions to identify problems and note suggestions from teachers and officials. Dr. Baloch pledged that if government funds are allocated, serious efforts will be made to resolve these issues.
He reiterated that, as in the previous year, funds would be channeled to promote sports and positive activities, providing better avenues for youth advancement. The event concluded with appreciation for the district administration, particularly Deputy Commissioner Kech Bashir Ahmed Barich, for promoting literature and sports.
Meanwhile the current Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti on Wednesday personally consoled rickshaw driver Abdul Nabi Mengal and announced financial assistance for a new vehicle, following a traumatic incident of police misconduct that led the driver to set his own rickshaw ablaze.
The event unfolded on Quetta’s Airport Road, where an altercation with a traffic police officer left Mengal severely distressed. In a state of mental anguish over the confrontation, the devastated driver subsequently set fire to his rickshaw, his source of livelihood.
